Now we’re being sold on ‘Hyperscape’, Meta’s latest attempt to make us all believe in this fantastical metaverse nonsense. Because, of course, what we really need is a way for people to scan their surroundings with a phone camera and turn it into some sort of immersive digital environment. I mean, who needs actual human interaction when you can just have a bunch of strangers floating around in virtual reality? And let’s not forget the obligatory reference to Star Trek – because nothing says ‘innovative technology’ like something that’s been done better on TV decades ago. But hey, at least it’ll be fun for the crypto bros to try and figure out how to make a quick buck off of this stuff.
