Cryptocurrency’s latest trend is animal-themed coins for charity – who would’ve thought? Vitalik Buterin, Ethereum co-founder, decided that instead of letting these tokens just collect dust in his wallet (or maybe they were getting a bit too comfortable), he donated over $500K worth to an animal welfare fund. It seems the memecoin community is having some sort of existential crisis – are we here for fun or do we have actual substance? Buterin sold off all these tokens, which initially dropped by 60% (talk about a financial ‘roar’ back), but then surged up by 200%. The price action was so impressive that it’s almost as if the coins thought they were in some sort of wild animal preserve.
