As we all know, it’s not like these coins just magically appeared out of thin air or anything. No, they were created by some genius (cough) Satoshi Nakamoto cough), and have been quietly accumulating value on the blockchain while their owners twiddled their thumbs for years. And now that they’re being spent, what a wonderful opportunity to reminisce about how many more are still just sitting there doing nothing – 1.71 million BTC from 2009-2012 block rewards remain unspent!
